--- 5 ---Santos Dumont`s House - Luan Vinicius

This was a summer home of the most important Brazilian inventor of the world history, Mr. Santos Dumont, father of the modern aviation. Located in the old imperial city of Petropolis and on a hill, "The Enchanted", as called by the owner, was a home projected by the own Santos Dumont and built in 1918. The home presents an architecture inspired by the alpine cottages, very different from the constructions around, what turned this home more unique and fabulous. But what is more special about this home is how it is modern inside. With a total of three floors, the home presents an open concept floor plan, without any walls or barriers dividing the spaces what is something really modern and different in that period. On the roof, there is an observatory where Santos Dumont spent many nights watching the stars during the night. I visited this house many times when I spend my summer in Petropolis. I love the city, and this home is special to me because presents an amazing perception of the life that a man can be happy without live in huge homes and mansions, like was common in that period. The comfort is a perception of what is essential and not superfluous.
