--- 4 ---Farnsworth House – Mies Van Der Rohe (Luan Vinicius)

Stunning! This is how I can define the Farnsworth House.  To me this is the masterpiece of Mies Van Der Rohe when he mentioned the quote: “Less is more!”  The biggest challenge to be an architect is when you have to make a project that can transmit what you want, your feelings and your thinking. Farnsworth is the perfect interpretation about what Mies wanted to demonstrate about your architecture. The amazing thing about Farnsworth House is that it looks like it has always been there, it had borned in that site.  It is not an aggressive project which impose your present in the site, but it is a part from there.  When you are inside the project, you don`t feel closed in a space, but the sensation is you are outside without been out from the house. You can see all the trees and the river from every part of the house (not from the bathroom, of course, because it would be awkward). Many people who have visited Farnsworth House said that they could not live there because it is not privacy and the many panel glasses around the home make them feel uncomfortable. Even the Farnsworth House was projected to be a weekend home I was surprised because I did notfeel the same sensations from the others. Yes, there are a lot of glasses around, but the connection with the forest outside and the views make a perfect place to relax. I would love to drink a coffee outside viewing that amazing view from the river, cooking and watching these amazing trees in the backyard. I really could live there. In fact, I miss projects like Farnsworth that try to bring simple sensations, establish a connection between people and nature and shows to the people that architecture is more than design, it is about life and how to live better.
