15) Paper Dome - Taylor Johnson

The Paper Dome is a temporary church building constructed using paper tubes. It was designed by Shigeru Ban, a Japanese architect who is known for his paper tube structures and buildings. The church was built in 1995 for the Takatori Catholic Church after the Great Hanshin Earthquake to serve as a place for religious worship and communal gatherings. It was later donated to the Taomi Village, and then deconstructed ans shipped to Taiwan in 2006.
This building is interesting to me because of the materials used for it. This architect uses paper to quickly and efficiently build structures for groups that suffer from natural disasters such as this Earthquake in 1995. No doubt that these types of structures would not be permanent, but could revolutionize aid for those in need temporarily.
