7 Adaptive Reuse- Seth Gebhart

Adaptive Reuse

The images to the right show a adaptive reuse building. What was once a 1800's shed, now a single family home. As architects and designers, often times today we can get caught up in the business side of things over the problem side of things. We should be problem solvers over anything. As you can see this home was reused, dismissing the idea of new construction. We have to be aware of the pieces that go to the puzzle of creating a solution. Here the architect saw the building and found potential underlying all of the pieces. We must see the pieces and be able to form a bigger picture, a solution to the peoples problems. Every design should be a solution to a problem, nothing more and nothing less, simply a solution to the problem.
