(3) "Dugout" by Jared Zettl

This sod house is located just west of New Kirk OK, and the family that built it were homesteaders. It appears to have some wood siding on the face of the house and its unclear what the shingles where made from, but it is evident that they were some kind of re-purposed material.  I find past housing quite interesting, as with this sod house. Electricity and plumbing hadn't been installed in most houses at this time, making living on a property in one of these houses challenging. In today's American society most people would not favor such a place but in other parts of the world this house would be something to be proud of. When looking over the transformation of housing through the years, one key characteristic can be concluded, and that is people are adaptable in all environments.
