Bosco Verticale or Vertical Forest is a
pair of residential towers in Milan, Italy. Located in the Porto Nuova district
in Milan, the towers host more than 900 trees on the terraces. I was able to
see these towers when they were being built last year and it was one of my
favorite areas of Milan.
It is called Bosco Verticale because each tower will house trees between three
and six meters tall which will help alleviate smog, produce oxygen and reduce
noise. The trees are also used to moderate temperatures in the building in the
winter and summer seasons. These residential towers provide tenants with an
urban living environment while still having plenty of nature right outside of
their window.
